Roach Exterminator | Berrett Pest Control

Cockroaches. Quite possibly the world’s most despicable bug. Like most pests, cockroaches can enter your home through crevices and cracks, but can oftentimes be inadvertently carried inside in boxes, bags and everyday items.

Cockroaches thrive in warm temperatures where food and water are easily accessible, and they have the ability to reproduce quickly, making them a big problem for homeowners and businesses alike. Cockroaches are nocturnal - so if you see one, chances are very high that there are many more that you have not seen. In fact, seeing a cockroach during the day can indicate a severe infestation, and can mean some cockroaches have been forced out due to overcrowding. Roaches leave chemical trails in their feces, which attracts other roaches as they are trying to discover new food and water sources.

The most common type of cockroach that we see is the German Cockroach. It's a pale, yellowish brown color with dark stripes on the front. This type of roach is the smallest, most numerous and most destructive cockroach that we see. They are typically drawn to restaurants and kitchens, but can live in bathrooms, crawl spaces, basements, foundations, porch crevices and walkways. They are scavengers that love to feed on a variety of foods and decaying matter.

Cockroaches are not only unsightly, but they are also dangerous. They can contaminate food with a number of different diseases, making humans sick. The dust created by cast-off cockroach skins, dead bodies and droppings can especially aggravate allergies and trigger asthma attacks in children and sensitive individuals.
